Rural Regenerative Local Solutions

Dates: 22 April - 6 May 2022

This training aims to engage in, support and facilitate accelerated learning and collaboration among youth workers and youth leaders of the numerous European regenerative initiatives partnering in this project.
Guided by an internationally recognized trainer, Chan Sac Balam, within the welcoming setting of the Southern Lights farm (Greece), participants will broaden their knowledge, skills and attitudes in terms of inclusive approaches and practical tools to design regenerative systems at all scales - from home and garden to community, farms and bioregions around the world.

Mixing theory and practice of innovative approaches to non-formal education such as Wilderness Awareness, the 8-shields mentoring model and Art of Participatory Leadership practices, this training proposes to enhance and reinforce the competences of 35 youth workers and leaders from 7 different countries, 10 of whom with fewer opportunities, working in the sectors of ecological and social regeneration. This means empowering them to put into practice the training outcomes in the projects that they are involved in and to transmit efficiently the experience and multidisciplinary skills gained to the audiences they work with, and especially youth facing geographical, economic obstacles, or educational obstacles.

About the trainer

Chan Sac Balam

Co-founder of Permalab in France

Besides having extensive farming experience in various regenerative pilot farms in France and Mexico, he is also founder of PermaLab, an organization specialized in regenerative farming and hydrological design. Their work focuses on education, consultancy, land and farm planning, design and implementation of many regenerative agricultural operations in France and abroad.
He is also member of the administration board of ADAF (Association Dromoise de AgroForesterie) who supports farmers in their transition to regenerative agroforestry models, through consulting, training and education.

Further he brings to the European context the widely respected educational philosophy developed at Wilderness Awareness School (Washington, United States), which trains
youth and adults to use traditional ecological knowledge blended with the benefits of modern science.

Acknowledgement

Covid Strategy

Our aim is to hold the course without a mask, without risking our safety.
People arriving in Greece have to undergo a COVID test. This is a national regulation and does not depend on us. It though means that you as a participant will have been tested for COVID 19, and we can rely on this test.
If you will be tested positive, you will not be able to participate in our course, we will though support you to find a place to stay in Greece until you can travel back to your country.
To ensure that from the moment of your COVID test until your arrival in our farm there has been no risk of COVID infection, you will have to practice social distancing and wearing a mask and gloves and not expose yourself to a threat of infection.
Once arrived in our place, there will be no more risk of COVID infection. No people from outside are coming in close proximity with the participants of the course, so can rest assured there is no risk.
Because these times are very uncertain and we can not foresee if it will be really possible to do the course, we have to stay as agile as possible. Therefore, make sure not to book your flight earlier than 3 weeks before the course begins, to be sure the course will actually happen and when you book, make sure to book a travel ticket (flight, train, ferry, etc.) that will reimburse you in case we have to cancel the course last minute. We can´t reimburse your ticket if the course doesn´t happen. Also we can´t reimburse your travel expenses if you are excluded as a participant because of a positive COVID test result.
If a participant shows symptoms of COVID-19 during the course, we might insist on him wearing a mask and undergoing a COVID test that we will pay for. If the test result is positive, we will make an apartment in the nearby village available where the participant can be in quarantine.
