What is Giulia Sargenti doing in a small mountain village counting 17 habitants?

Our second micro story about the aftereffects of our Erasmus+ PDC course is about an amazing young and powerful woman from Italy, Giulia Sargenti. After the experience of the PDC where young people from 5 different countries of Europe came together, shared dreams and plans and gained valuable skills and competencies in Permaculture, she went back to her home village counting 17 residents, laying in the peaceful mountains of Northern Italy where the farm of her family goes back 2 generations. Back then the village had many residents, food was grown there in abundance, then everyone left for the big cities, for a “better” life, but losing community, healthy food and habitat, and being torn apart from the rush of our times.

Now in the isolation of the pandemic Giulia is working on the food self-sufficiency of her still small community, on deepening her practical skills and applying the gained knowledge on her local context. We don´t doubt that with her creative and inclusive spirit she will bring a bright shining light to her region and inspire and empower other young people.

Her vision is to create a healthy thriving community space, to share knowledge and practices and sustainable living. Soon we will be traveling to her paradise like place, like she once came to ours. We are looking forward to co-create with you Giulia and we are grateful for the bravery of your mission and that you turn your words into actions.
